World Plumbing Day

World Plumbing Day

March 11th, Every Year

Now I will admit I had never heard of World Plumbing Day until I became a Plumber and really didn’t know too much about the history of the day. So this year, I decided to find out what its all about.

World Plumbing Day is celebrated internationally every year on 11th March. Check this out…

The day was initiated by the World Plumbing Council to recognise and celebrate the important role plumbing plays in societal health and amenities.

You may recall a few months ago I wrote a blog about plumbing and public health and it seems World Plumbing Day was borne of the same concept – a desire to “pause to reflect on the vital role plumbing plays in preserving (our) health and way of life (and) in building sustainable disease free futures for millions in the developing world” (Source: https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/world-plumbing-day/).

Given clean drinking water and good sanitation are vital in helping to keep us all healthy, I think that’s more than reason enough to celebrate.

I am not sure what I’ll do tomorrow to give a high-five or shout out to my plumbing colleagues. Looking in my diary it seems I’ll be under a house most of the day, so probably not celebrating too hard. I will pause and be grateful for getting to do a job I love everyday.

The fact it plays such an important role in public health is really the icing on the cake for me!

Happy World Plumbing Day!
